Chapter Twelve
Trent lay quietly, totally relaxed for the first time all day. He had hated having to go into the club since he had claimed Marly, but he wasn’t sure what he was going to do with himself now he’d made the decision to quit. He had more than enough money, it wasn’t as though he needed to work, but Trent and his wolf would get edgy pretty fast if he didn’t have something to do while Marly was working. Maybe his mate had some vacation time coming up, then they could go for a road trip.
It had been a while since the bike had gone on a long run, and Trent couldn’t deny to himself that he would feel a lot better if they did get out of town for a while. He felt Clive would respect his decision to leave the Epitaphs – it’s not as though the club had a beating out policy or anything. But other members like Bob could be a problem.
Trent felt his anger slow burning in his gut at the thought of Bob attacking his mate. Marly was right in a way. He had spent far too much time with humans. If Bob had been pack, in the way of wolf shifters, then Bob would be dead along with his seven friends. Trent made a mental note to speak to Clive about the prospects that were with Bob. If they were so easily led, then they weren’t a good fit for the Epitaphs.

“You’re thinking so much your ears are smoking,” Marly said quietly, his breath skating across Trent’s chest and sending a shiver through his balls. Damn, he always wanted his man, and even after the vigorous workout Marly had given him, Trent knew he could happily go another round with his mate.
“Was thinking we should go on holiday – a road trip,” he said cautiously, not too sure that Marly would be receptive to the idea especially if Marly thought that Trent just wanted them to hide out for a while. From the snort Marly gave it would seem he’d been busted.
“I have a job, you know,” Marly said, and Trent tightened his grip on his man’s shoulders to stop him moving away. When Marly was laying on his chest, then the man was safe, and Trent realized he desperately needed that comforting thought. His wolf wasn’t convinced his mate was all right, and Trent knew that until he was buried deep inside of his mate, he would continue to feel a bit off.
“Don’t you have any vacation time saved up?” He said, distracting himself from that line of thinking. It had been really hard for Trent to submit to his mate sexually, something he never dreamed he would do. But he had been so panicked at the thought of Marly going out and putting himself in danger again, that he did the only thing he could think of. Not that he didn’t have a
